SPIRIT OF A CHAMPION

it truly was an excellent match and nadal proved his point on grass.
but it was so heartbreaking to watch, every time federer faced a match point, failed to convert a break or fumbled on his backhand. you could see the frustration in his eyes and his self belief falter each time he missed a shot. but he fought so hard and never gave up even though the odds kept coming against him. the title just kept slipping from his grasp.

in my humble opinion, if federer was at his top form yesterday, he would still have won. and i believe in the eyes of many, federer always will be a champion and we're all looking forward to a comeback in the us open. i disagree with those who say his reign is over because up till the finals, he was hardly tested. and he played fantastic tennis despite going down. but nadal was superb and federer just needs to find his vulnerable spot and get pass his past defeats before the next time they meet.

nevertheless, at the end of it all, as always, he was so graceful in defeat. slightly annoyed at post match but we know how much wimbledon meant to him. still, never finding excuses, never bitter. simply a strong promise that he'll come back and fight for it again next year.
remarkable poise cause i believe in the case of anyone else, they wouldn't be able to resist a snarking comment with regards to nadal's play. seriously, he's a great player but it got quite annoying how long he was taking to serve as the match progressed.
